Who wouldn't want to be made a king? It is a significant draw. Add to that the confusing element of being raised in America as if skin color should not matter and at the same time it does matter. Especially if you grew up in a mostly White community who generally "acted nice" in your presence, or even just watching White TV up until the 1980s or so. A child is very influenced by this fake reality. People also want to be accepted. These are strong currents. No one is fully immune. If you tune out the bad (denial) and want acceptance, you can make up any reality you want. There is so much too this, can't get to bottom of it here. And yes great article and theme!
