America 2024: Collapse Soon or Transformation Now?
The signs of the times forebode major change in some form: choose or lose.

Societal collapses occur because the great bulk of society chooses to do nothing. The incorrigible, belligerents who cause collapses cannot choose to win; it is only the unmotivated and unactivated majority who choose to do nothing who can lose. The only winners in a collapse are future generations, likely many generations distant. No one alive immediately after a collapse wins anything. The first stage of transition after a collapse is brutal and incompatible with a calm, comfortable, community of caring capacity. At most, only the immediate, basic needs of survivors can be satisfied or ameliorated. The sick succumb. The damaged disintegrate. The injured cannot endure. Long term survivors produce without thriving. The 1st generation born after the collapse curses the past, and never forgives the loser-chooser past generation who chose to do nothing. At the very earliest, it is the 2nd or 3rd generations after the collapse that are able to make the first steps forward.
